What is Iran’s rank in air pollution?/ 7 million Iranians are at risk of brain tumor

According to Khabar Online, the continuation of air pollution and the increase in cold in recent weeks prompted the authorities to close the country continuously for a week, but this method, which was adopted and implemented in previous years, has shown that it did not work. And it is not, and maybe the only way to get rid of this situation in the eyes of everyone is to let it rain and snow to overcome this incurable crisis. But “Arman Sorani Yanchesmeh”, a specialist and brain surgeon, believes that the pollution has increased so much in the layers of the earth’s atmosphere that even rain and snow cannot clean it.

According to Etemad’s report, he warns that soon and in the coming years, a big tsunami will hit the country due to the increase in the incidence of brain tumors, the main reason of which is only air pollution, but this issue is not important for the managers and officials of the country.

My question is that there is a lot of information in the media and cyberspace about the harm that air pollution can do to the body and health of people, but we clearly want to know what serious harm is caused to the body and is there a way to prevent it?

Well, as you are aware, the discussion of air pollutants is a very broad discussion, because there are many factors in the exposure of mankind to air pollutants. That is, the person who is in Toronto, Canada is the same person with the same environment and the same genetics, and the person who is in China is the same environment, those who are in Korea or the countries of the Middle East or even Africa have their own special conditions.

Scientific studies in the form of population base are a series of studies that are carried out in a limited population at the national and regional level. These are studies that look at global populations; These are called population-based studies, which are based on the highest statistical population that has the least error percentage. These studies were conducted and they found that air pollutants directly and indirectly cause various diseases in the body, which has been measured and proven in both psychiatric diseases and structural diseases of the brain and spine. That is, like smoking, which is carcinogenic to the lungs, throat and mouth, air pollution and a series of air pollutants also destroy the structure of the human body over time.

A series of studies have been conducted that have shown that air pollutants are directly related to brain tumors, and some have been related to mood disorders such as depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder. The relationship between pollutants and brain tumors, especially common pollutants or criteria air pollutants, i.e. those that are measured as air indices – not the specific cases of an industry that may not be spread all over the world and is limited to a specific region – has been investigated and shown. that they cause tumors, especially malignant tumors.

In terms of brain diseases, air pollutants are historically associated with various diseases such as Alzheimer’s, dementia or amnesia, sensory disorders, Parkinson’s, stroke in terms of brain diseases. Recently, other diseases such as mental and nervous diseases have been added.

You said about the tumor, if you have more statistical information, please let me know and what should we do considering that this air pollution still exists and has become a routine in our lives?

I have a reference to brain tumors. During the project that I worked on for two years, we came and checked the different databases that exist in the world, the studies that were reported by different research groups and the data from all over the world in a very independent way and without financial dependencies with companies and governments. had taken off; We collected all the data and statistics. China, Sweden, Denmark, Korea, America, Japan and Asian countries, Africa was less, Europe, we put these data together and we came to the conclusion that a series of gases such as sulfur compounds, nitrogen and most importantly carbon monoxide or CO have a very significant relationship. With the occurrence of brain tumors, especially malignant brain tumors.

When we examine the study more closely, we see that the level of CO, or carbon monoxide, which we reached a very significant number in the study we conducted, and that was that we found that the inhalation of this carbon causes a 7% increase in malignant brain tumors in the community. That is, taking into account the real population of 100 million, of which 80 million are statistical and 20 million are not registered (legal and illegal immigrants and people who are on the borders of the country and perhaps do not have birth certificates. and the population is not small, especially the children of Sistan and Baluchistan) and an increase of 7%, we will soon have 7 million patients with malignant tumors in the near future. This number is very pathetic and shocking, especially when this matter is proposed and demanded on a very large scale by health and treatment experts.

This means that a gas or a pollutant that causes a 7% increase in disease, which may say 7% is not numerical and not even double, but at the community level, a 7% increase in the occurrence of a tumor, that is, 7 million patients, is necessary. To have 7,000 specialized hospitals like Imam Khomeini or Al-Zahra Hospital in Isfahan, and this is very worrying; That means we have to have 7,000 buildings with 1,000 beds to treat them. In any case, these 7 million people have families and loved ones, they have terrible financial costs for the government, the people around them, and themselves.

These malignant tumors that you mention, are they known and has a cure been found for them?

Malignant brain tumors, the most common of which is GBM or Glioblastoma multiforme; Grade 4 brain tumor is from the tissue of the brain itself, and the patient lives between 6 months and 2 years; Of course, this disease is a bad disease in the whole world; And the whole world has not found a way for it.

Scientists and politicians in the field of health and health of the world and in industrialized countries that are facing this problem and at the same time are the first level countries, reduced the level of their pollutants and slowly minimized these pollutants in urban areas and their industries with policies in accordance They updated the environment and refined these gases and used a catalyst and did not allow pollution to enter.

It means using clean energy?

Yes, clean energy. But on the other hand, you can’t completely turn the society around with clean energy so that the energy market is regulated, but as I mentioned before, they have already come and used the catalyst; They minimized the pollutants in their factories. The refineries produced pollutants in their industries and did not allow this gas to enter the atmosphere. The idea we have is that this gas spreads in the atmosphere it enters; no The atmosphere is like a sponge that absorbs water until it reaches saturation. Then, we expect that when it rains and snows, our atmosphere and air will not be polluted, but this is not the case, the reason is that our atmosphere is saturated with pollutants, that is, it is full of pollutants up to its upper layers, which remain in it until a certain time. If we don’t produce pollutants, we won’t have this clean atmosphere and we will experience pollutants in different episodes or periods of pollution and it will get worse every day.

Let me tell you a very interesting number. One of these pollutants, about which various studies have been conducted in the world and were published in the Nature magazine, and a number of other studies were published in the Lancet magazine or other prestigious magazines in the world, is PM2.5 or particulate matter; The number proven in studies that inhaling it causes cancer is one tenth of our current number. That means, for example, with an average number of 11 micrograms per cubic meter of air, and the number recorded on our reliable sites for this pollutant is 167!

This number recorded on the Isfahan website under the title of unhealthy condition is 167, while in the studies reviewed, this number in other countries is between 10 and 12 or finally 20, that is, the number we have, which sometimes may not be the right number, is 10 times the number has been announced Our serious problem is the published statistics, which are sometimes manipulated and not reported correctly. The statistical situation is very dire. Finally, I have to say that the cancer tsunami that they say has started in Iran and in the next few years will cover the entire population of Iran and every family will definitely experience a cancer patient, it does not seem like an exaggeration.

And the reason for all these diseases is air pollution?

One of the main reasons is because it is something that everyone deals with and it is strange that the statesmen do not think about this issue, even though they and their families live in this country. Our expectation is that they will shut down the polluting factories and industries, or consider subsidies for them, or help them reduce these pollutants to the minimum possible.

It is customary in the world to reduce the amount of pollutants produced by every industry by two percent every year, but what is happening in Iran? What we see is that our situation has worsened significantly compared to last year. That is, not only did we not reduce it, but it has become more and worse.

I remember that due to the air pollution in Isfahan, which was rampant two years ago, university professors in the environmental health department went to Isfahan’s Montazeri power plant, which produces electricity, and asked them, “Why are you doing this?” They very brazenly answered that not only do we not put catalysts on our chimneys, but we are also allowed to burn millions of liters of diesel fuel. Clinical experience and examinations in the community and environment showed that yes, they do this, and not only do they not use that clean fuel, but they also avoid updating their refining and filtration systems and postpone the renovation and updating of their health systems. And they don’t do it at all. They are not worried about this at all, because people’s health is not important to them at all, which requires the government to deal with these people very seriously. It is the polluting industries that endanger the country’s national security, and on the other hand, the health issue is a national crisis. It means that we are not joking with anyone in health and hygiene. Just as our borders are in the hands of soldiers and the commander commands, we also present health as commanders and believe that sulfur, nitrogen, carbon monoxide.
PMs, particulate matter and black carbon, which we have in abundance in our big cities such as Isfahan, Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad and Tabriz, will definitely create a biological and biological crisis for our people in the next 5 to 10 years, and it has created it now. The number of malignant brain cancers has increased in the last 5 years, but there is no center that provides statistics, the reason is that they do not want the statistics to come out, especially in the previous Ministry of Health, Mr. Dr. Ainollahi did not allow such statistics at all, and allowed research and investigation in This was not the case.

God willing, with the hope that Dr. Zafar Qandi, as the custodian of the Ministry of Health, will run this project and investigate the incidence and prevalence of brain tumors in our country. It is definitely high, because we are dealing with brain tumors and we operate on them, and this statistic is strangely much higher than the rest of the world.

What other diseases do we get besides brain tumor?

In terms of neurological diseases, mood disorders are the most common. That is, diseases such as dementia (impairment of memory and intelligence), Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, other very common diseases that are strongly related to this air pollution, or even diseases such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and bipolar disorders. Various studies conducted since 2020 have clearly proven the effect of air pollutants in the occurrence of mood and intelligence disorders, which is also very important.

For example, a study was conducted in an urban area, which was a very strong study and was conducted on 1.7 million people in Italy, which was not a very high number, which showed that the cause of their mood and intelligence disorders are pollutants. If we want to calculate these numbers about ourselves, we have to go to the desert, because our pollutants are very high, while Italy has clean and very clean air. However, a mutual connection has been seen and this is an alarm for the compatriots.

What do the statistics say?

Compared to other countries, Iran ranks 21st among 131 countries in terms of air pollution, and countries like Chad, Iraq, Pakistan, Bahrain, and Bangladesh have the worst air quality in the world.

Air pollution is the fourth cause of premature death in the world after high blood pressure, smoking and malnutrition and causes premature death every year.
There will be 7 million people.

Every year, about 45,000 people in the country die due to air pollution. Of this amount, about 9,000 deaths attributed to air pollution are related to the residents of the capital.

More than 13% of natural deaths in Iran are attributed to air pollution and this number is increasing.

Last year, 26,307 people over the age of 30 died due to reasons attributed to air pollution, which is 26% higher than the number of deaths in 1400.

About 9,000 deaths attributed to air pollution occur annually in Tehran, about 60% of deaths occur in cold seasons and 40% in spring and summer.

Out of 45 to 50 thousand deaths attributed to air pollution in the whole country that occur annually, 700 to 1000 cases are related to children under 5 years old.

One out of every 10 deaths of children is related to air pollution, and of course, the highest number of deaths attributed to air pollution is related to the age group over 50, not children.

Three diseases, lung cancer, heart attacks and strokes have a significant relationship with air pollution.

Air pollution is also the cause of 20% of the deaths of premature babies.

The new findings of researchers show that even the occurrence of autism disorder is not unrelated to air pollution in some cases.
